The shed/wheel barrow key is missing!
If you see it lying around or have accidentally placed it in your pocket/bag, please return it asap. Thank you! This has happened to a handful of us plenty of times, no worries.
This is the story of one little community garden nestled in the Powderhorn Park Community of South Minneapolis.

Thursday, Community Gardening Day!
I am looking forward to seeing you all tonight in the garden!
A couple things we are thinking that of finishing up and working on.
*finish spreading the compost in the back
*covering that compost in the back with mulch
*the remaining mulch be placed in-between the garden plots and the walk way
*picking the endless weeds that join us :)
* finish planting the daylilys that were so kindly donated to our garden!
Please, remember to tip over the wheelbarrow be fore you lock it up. This prevents the rain from settling inside it which causes rust.
Lets work on plot 1 together! Keeping it weed free and watered for its the Empty Bowels plot. Thank you!

Thursday, June 23rd
Hello 3437 Gardeners!
Happy Summer Solstice June 20th!
Looks like all the plants survived the heat, I hope you all did :)
We are welcoming gardeners Jim plot 6A and Chantal plot 14, Happy Gardening!
I will not be able to make it to the community gardening day this coming Thursday but please keep on picking the weeds! If the Empty Bowls (plot 1) needs water, please do that as well.
Was thinking of spreading the rest of the compost in the back to prep the soil for dwarf tree/perennial planting. Also, finish spreading the mulch in between plots, along the path way and in the back after spreading out the compost.

ALERT Leaf-miner
SarahJune 3, 2016 at 9:05 AM
Hi! I noticed some spinach in a bed toward the front that is being eaten by leaf-miner. Once plants are big they can survive it, but at this stage, it needs daily/every other day manual removal of the eggs otherwise they'll likely kill the plant. It's pretty common, so is likely in other plots too. Check the backs of every spinach, beet or chard leaf. You'll see tiny little tight rows of tiny little white eggs. Just rub those off with your finger as often as you can. If they hatch, a tiny worm burrows into the leaf, between the layers, and eats itself into a big grub. It leaves a little trail behind it as it meanders through the leaf. If you find the grubs just tear out that part of the leaf and squish em.
