What does the garden do with the money?
The Powderhorn Park Association supports the garden through connections with the city. We pay the city $400.00 annually for the insurance on the land on which the garden is. Other ways the money is spent: tools, plants, seeds, compost, supplies for signs, polls, beds, and mulch.
We also pay an annual fee of $50.00 to be a member of the Minnesota State Horticulture Society. This is our third year. They offer many seeds and plants! MN State Horticulture Society
Did you read and sign the contract?
* Before you garden-Sign (in-person with Nate), email: 3437garden@gmail.com or text Lynn 612-554-6656 that you have read the contract and agreement.

Clean garden
Great article! (copy and paste to read the article)
https://www.hobbyfarms.com/uf-hack-prevent-illegal-dumping-in-your-community-garden/
-What does it take to keep a community garden clean? A COMMUNITY!
-If you are renting a plot it is also your responsibility to help keep the garden clean. If someone has started a pile in the back it's our job to remove the pile as soon as possible so the person dumping sees we are keeping the area clean.
Pile in back/compost
Our goal is to not have a pile in the garden/next to the compost at all. LET'S MOVE THAT PILE AS A COMMUNITY! WHEN YOU ARE IN THE GARDEN TAKE A LOAD FROM THE PILE AND PLACE IT ON THE GARDEN WALKWAY.
-When cleaning your plot, please place your organic matters on the walkway or in the space between the plots.
- The compost bins can not break down anything larger than a 2" dimension.
- If it's larger than 2", please place it in the walkway for mother nature will break it down best.
-We are not sure if every gardener is reading this blog so if you see a gardener placing matter into the compost that is larger than a 2" dimension, please just remind them that it's best to be placed in the walkway for it breaks down better and helps keep weeds down.
-The 3437 garden is not a place for neighbors or your own yard organic matter. If you see a neighbor dumping their year's waste please kindly remind them this is a community garden and is only for the 3437 community garden waste. If they do not stop we ask that you call the city at #311 and report this. We need everyone's help to let the city know we are trying to keep the garden area clean but may need their help at times. You can keep your name anonymous.

Watering your plot
Our rain barrels and hose location. They must stay here!
Water key is on the left side door inside the shed. Return it to the same location, we only have this one.
Do not overhead water. We ask that you use the plastic watering cans, located in the rain barrels, (return them there) to hand water your plot. Do not drag the hose around the garden.
Also, the cement area needs to stay free of plants and garden supplies.
Keep the screen and stone on top of the rain barrels. This keeps the squirrels out and still allows the rain to fall in.
