Tomorrow May 18th

We are having a "Family Night" at my school tomorrow! I plan on being in the garden around 7 pm!

If your there at 6 pm lets fill up the plots with compost that still need it.  The compost pile looks low but there should be enough for each plot to have 2 wheel barrows.  Thanks to everyone who has been helping with hauling compost since it arrived last Saturday!!!

Lets transplant the rest of the small raspberries to the back where Emily and I started transplanting them. Thanks Emily for all your help!

Kate is looking into contacting the city with getting compost bins for our weeds! Thanks Kate! For now we can put our weeds in the back with the beautiful dandelions.

The rain should of filled up our water bins but lets keep them full.

Bretton will soon be bringing the tomato plants!  Thanks Bretton!

Donated Tomatoes!

A 3437 gardener will be donating free heirloom tomatoes to the garden soon! The amazing thing about heirlooms is that you can save your seeds for the following year!

Keep checking the blog for more info about these tomatoes!

Spring garden projects

Spring garden projects:

* picking weeds in the perennial gardens, walk way, sidewalk, boulevards, the back (TRY TO GET THE ROOTS OUT so the weed is out for good). Using a shovel helps with the big weeds.

* transplanting the raspberry and blackberry seedlings to the back west side of the garden. Extending the raspberry wall all the way past the tree and to the alley.  More berries to enjoy!!

* fill up the water buckets

*fill beds with our new compost

*spread extra compost into perennial gardens

*pick up trash (there is a a trash can in the shed) code: FLED     wheelbarrow code: 3411

*water perennials, raspberries and  blackberries if they look droopy

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who helped out today!  Everyone is contributing in one way or another to the garden which is great to see so early in the season!

Hoe to see more of you tomorrow in the garden! Ill be there around noon.

Compost delivery Saturday!!

I hope the weather is making everyone excited to garden! The city of Minneapolis will be delivering our compost order this SATURDAY, MAY 13th between 8am and 10am. This is where you come in! We will need help moving the compost from the delivery spot into the plots and out of the way of vehicles in the alley. I know it is last minute, but any help would be amazing!

Hope to see you all, and happy gardening :)
