Garden Update

Hello community! Hello gardeners!

I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you over the last few weeks. It has been beautiful to see seedlings sprouting and early cole crops in the ground. I have a couple of short updates for you all.

First, my thanks to those who have come out on Wednesday evenings to do some digging in the soil together. I invite you all to continue coming out on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00pm to help out around the garden or just do a little upkeep on your plot and say hi. Over the last couple weeks we've assessed for bed repairs, dug out volunteer trees, removed screws that were poking out, and made an impact on pesky weeds like burdock, creeping bellflower, and quack grass. We've also added in some walking onions by the alley, so those will spread and everyone will be welcome to those in the future.

I am working on assigning open beds to our waiting list. There are still a few gardeners from last year I haven't heard from. The last day to re-claim your bed is April 30th.

Online garden contract can be filled out here. And yes I will put paper copies in the shed soon, I promise.

May Day is just around the corner! Please come to the garden on Saturday May 4th from 9am-12pm for  community garden work to beautify our space and rebuild garden beds before this spring celebration. I will bring DONUTS and COFFEE.

Spring compost delivery will occur on May 10th between 1-3pm!

Warmly,

Phil

Season Start

Hello all,

We have warm weather ahead and crocuses are blooming.

Spring community garden workdays will be on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00 starting next week on April 10th. We’ll start with general garden clean up and begin the bed repair process. Come on down to lend a hand to our shared space, or just come down to work your plot while in community. I hope to see you this week!

I’ve revised a bit of the language of the garden contract, but otherwise there are no meaningful changes. I’ve put the contract into google survey form, which you can complete at this link.  I will also have some paper copies which I’ll drop off inside the shed.

We have about a third of the plots confirmed for returning gardeners at this point. If you have not contacted me to confirm your spot or to submit plot fee please do so before April 30th. We have a sizable waitlist this spring with 14 community members expressing interest.

Confirm your plot by April 30th by emailing 3437garden@gmail.com or by texting me at 612.607.4091.

Plots remain $20 per season. This can be paid via Venmo at @Phil-Rooney-2 or by check/cash in person to me.

Thats the news for now, see you in the garden this week!

Phil
