How's the garden?!

Hi All,

I am back from vacation and I can't wait to see the garden! We are having a load of beautiful oak woodchips delivered today from our favorite friendly neighborhood tree service Bratt Tree Company. Thanks Jon!!!

Wednesday we will be leveling the shed, removing the wheels and settling it on some blocks. Come down at 6pm if you can.

If you are in the garden when no one else is there, feel free to fill the water barrels and shovel woodchips into the paths starting at the front and working back (It's difficult to push a wheel barrel over fresh woodchips).

I hope to see you this Wednesday!!!!

change in workday schedule

Hello neighbors!

Let's try something new with the workdays! Saturdays have turned out to be quite lonely in the garden and a few folks have said that Tuesday works well for them. Let's try Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the garden through this month.  So our workdays will be:

6:30-8:30pm

Tuesday, July 9th and Wednesday, July 10th

Tuesday, July 23rd and Wednesday, July 24th

Let me know how this works for you!

shed moving today pending weather.

If it is not raining, we will be moving the shed tonight. We will need many hands for this so please come on down and bring a pal. While the strongest, tallest and most foolhardy among us fetch the new shed, the old shed will need to be dismantled and the ground prepared. There will be a perfectly helpful job available to all who come down! Hopefully we will see you in the garden tonight!

raindates, saturdays, shed and minigrant!

Happy Friday!

Raindates:
Sooo, we've had quite a bit of rain lately and many of our workdays are getting rained out. In the month of June we are moving to an every-other week format. When we get rained out on one week, we will meet the following week instead.

Saturdays:
Are Saturdays still interesting to folks as a workday? We have them listed as 9-noon. Please speak up if that is your favorite, I have not seen any action on Saturdays. I would love to change the time/day so that folks can work together in the garden.

Shed:
It is beautiful! We are so thrilled to get it in place!
It is huge and heavy (1500-2000lbs) and a little dangerous to move and currently 6 blocks from the garden.
We are looking at finding car dollies to put under it to roll it over.- Let me know if you have a set! We will also need a strong and numerous crew on a dry day to make this work. I'd like to try for next Wednesday. Please let me know if you can come next Wednesday and we can build a plan of attack.

Minigrant:
We have received a $500 minigrant from The Wedge Co-op and Powderhorn Empty Bowls! This minigrant will partially find the shed and will help us purchase tools for the garden. I am especially excited about getting kid sized/ kid safe tools for the garden once we have the shed in place.

See you in the garden!

Feliz viernes!

Raindates:

No shed moving tonight! Too dangerous in the rain!!

Need hands tonight for the new shed AND are you planted yet?

Hi All,

Our new shed will be arriving TODAY! It is so very beautiful and we are really excited!

It will take many of us to put the shed in place. We will use the first hour or so to prep the space and take apart the old shed. I expect we should be ready to put it in place around 7/7:30. We will need as many strong people as we can get as the shed will be very heavy.

Please let me know if you can make it for the workday tonight at all between 6-8pm or if you can come for a couple of minutes around 7/7:30.

The garden is looking more beautiful every day.

For those of you who have not planted yet, please confirm with me that you are still interested in gardening this year or I may reassign your plot to folks who want a bit of extra space. For those of you who want a second space, let me know!

Also, if you want the old shed, speak up!

wednesday 5/29 6-8pm and compost pop-up sale

Looks like we will have a great crew this coming wednesday 6-8. Come on down! We will be (hopefully) building the last 4 bins, spreading compost, moving the old compost bin in preparation of the arrival of our new shed, trimming raspberry bushes and whatever else strikes our fancy.

A few folks have plots that are not yet prepped or planted- If you need help with ideas about how to do this, make sure you come down.

We still have a couple plots that are not yet assigned. I hope this is the last week the plots will be open. If you have someone interested in gardening, bring them down and claim a spot! Any unclaimed plots are fair game for newcomers who come this Wednesday.

Also, we will be doing a compost sale- so if you or your neighbors have need of some rich and amazing and cheap compost- bring a bag, old recycling box or other large container. We will sell the compost for $2 per large pot or 3 pots for $5.

See you in the garden!
