Warm Fall Weekend

Hello 3437 Community Garden gardeners!

Thank you to everyone who joined this year in helping keep the community garden going! The garden was filled with flowers, fruit, veggies and good company, 2 and 4-legged!

This weekend is going to be a great weekend  to get back into the garden one last time before it turns white with  this nice warm fall weather weekend.

Keep an eye on the blog for soon there will be posted a couple community weekday evening cleaning nights.

In the meantime please clean out your plot for the winter.

We ask that if the organic matter is larger than your hand in width, length and thickness to place it on the walkway in the garden instead of the compost bins. There is a lot of foot traffic through the garden which is a way the community helps us out by breaking down our organic matter and putting it back into the earth.  As you can see the large pile back by the compost is from the last 2 years and not breaking down so well on its own so we will see how our new plan works this year.

Also, please help out with moving the mulch pile. We will be placing the mulch in between each garden plot, where needed in the back and on the walkway and around the perennials and herbs upfront along with under the silver maple tree.

We will empty out the rain barrels and turn them upside down for the winter months.

We will tidy up the shed, pick up trash and  place/stake our tomato changes alongside the shed in some organized form.

Hope to see everyone soon in the garden!

Lynn
