Lock combination

A quick reminder the lock combination is: 3411 for the shed and wheelbarrow

Fall Cleaning

I hope everyone will get a chance to enjoy this warm sun today! I'll soon be in the garden to do more cleaning and seed some spinach! Yes, spinach will grow in the early winter cold temperatures.

As I was working in the garden yesterday I thought of some useful ways we all as a community can contribute to keep the garden as sustainable as possible.

Fall clean up sure can build a big pile in the compost. Some of you may remember last spring clean up and the large pile we had.
1.) Please, make sure anything you place in the compost bin is 4" or smaller in length and width. If cutting your organic matter is not possible PLEASE, place it in one of the city compost-able bags and place it next to the shed and not in the  compost bins!
2.)Please, no weed no seeds in the compost
3.) Please, no diseased plants
4.) Please, no tomatoes or vine crops
If cutting your organic matter is not possible PLEASE, place it in one of the city compost-able bags and place it next to the shed and not in the compost bin!

*If you use the bags and they are getting down to the end, please let me know so I can pick more up. An email or text message 612.554.6656

Thank you for all you do to contribute to keeping the garden as sustainable as possible!

Happy Fall!

The garden has been looking amazing this whole summer! We can feel that fall is in the air and the first frost is coming soon. The MN summers sure do go fast.  I hope everyone has enjoyed their times in the garden, it was lovely to see everyone here and there through out the garden!

I can't believe it's been since July when I posted last on the blog, time sure does fly by when your having fun! I have been enjoying this summer gardening in the community garden, working at the school, volunteering at the CSA farms and my cats and I going to the folks farm to enjoy the country fresh air.

While you are making your last harvest of produce, keep in mind that it can be donated to Empty Bowls which is coming up, November 4th! Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the day.

We will also be having a fall clean up day on Thursday October 20th at 5:30 pm! This will be the day to clean out your plot if you don't have time to get to it before that.  We will also be cleaning up the walk way, perennials, hostas, fruit trees, back of the garden, compost and organizing the she.

I'll be looking forward to seeing every one there!

Take time to see the beautiful fall colors!
:)
