The organic waste form the festival will get transported to a commercial composting facility where it goes through a 6-month curing process to become finished compost.
Heart of the Beast Theater is hosting a Plate-to-Garden compost sale in partnership with the MN Composting COuncil and Specialized Environmental Technologies, Inc. Saturday May 12th 10:00 am-2:00 pm in the Powderhorn Park parking lot!
They'll have two hundred 20 lbs. pags of Organic compost at $5.00 a bag. Spread the word!
The process from this compost sale will help cover the cost of the Green Team's Zero Waste initiatives at MayDay. Also to the community garden! In the past we have gotten compost from the city but it is from city yard waste and we are unsure how much of it is organic and what all is in it, it also has a lot of trash in it.
Meeting with Tanya we would like to try to work as a community with the Green Team next year with splitting the cost of the delivery and moving of the compost.
Help volunteer moving the left over compost with the Green Team this Saturday May 12th, 1:30-2:30 pm to our garden! They are asking for our help and contribution to support there event so they can repeat this event next year and we can order/deliver our 2019 compost together with the Green Team!
Who ever can make it and volunteer this Saturday May 12th 1:30-2:30 will get offered a discount on mulch of 40 lbs./2 bags (bags provided on site) for $5.00.
