What does the garden do with the money?
The Powderhorn Park Association supports the garden through connections with the city. We pay the city $400.00 annually for the insurance on the land on which the garden is. Other ways the money is spent: tools, plants, seeds, compost, supplies for signs, polls, beds, and mulch.
We also pay an annual fee of $50.00 to be a member of the Minnesota State Horticulture Society. This is our third year. They offer many seeds and plants! MN State Horticulture Society
So excited for this year! A big thank you to the volunteers
ReplyDeleteHello, there
ReplyDeleteMy name's Savannah. I just moved in behind the garden and would love to work a plot this year. Am I mistaken, or is there a plot 1A available?
Hi Savannah,
ReplyDeletePlot #1A is open and so is plot #21. #21 gets some sun but not a lot and plot #1A is very small but gets full sun. It's needs some TLC but will receive fresh compost on May 10th and a it's TLC. We ask for $20 for plot #21 and $10 for plot #1A for it small.
Plots open and close a lot in the spring so keep an eye on the plot map.
Would you like your name by plot #1A and if a larger one opend up you and switch it?
I would love plot 1A. I might switch later.
ReplyDeleteCouple questions-
Is it possible to get more than one plot?
Also, I'm considering planting spaghetti squash with a trellis, but don't want to steal sun from others. Do you have a suggestion of where to do this?
Thanks
Plot 1A is yours! Welcome to the garden! it is a small plot just so you are aware and it need some TLC. That plot is $10 for it's smaller size.
ReplyDeleteAre you able to read up on the other posts on the blog? or the video?
We ask NO trellis unless your garden has a back that would not block sun light. A trellis in Plot 1A would block sunlight for a lot of plants.
Are you able to go to the garden and check it out? There are other plots that are open that you could put up a trellis in the back of the garden BUT WE DO NOT have people plant vines especially squash, it is just too big for a community garden. ALL plants must stay in you plot.
Are we able to communicate through email over this blog? email I am able to get to sooner.
if you'd like to change plots at some point you can if there is one open but it may be hard to transplant your plants?
